All Morocco events taking place within Fes area are usually staged by a local community, which centres on some unique aspect of that community... with the exception of The Moroccan sacred Music Festival that invite the musicians form all around the world to share their talents and values. There are numerous events in Fes and Meknes going on throughout the year. We have listed some of these below, and we think they are a great time to come visit! Imilchil Festival

Place: Imilchil
The Imilchil Marriage Festival is Morocco's version of the Romeo and Juliet love story. This tribal marriage festival has it's beginnings in a story about a man and a woman from local tribes who loved each other deeply, but were forbidden to marry as their families were mortal enemies. So the pair cried themselves to death, and their tears formed the nearby lakes of Issly (his) and Tisslit (hers). Their families were absolutely grief-stricken and overcame their animosity to establish this day, on the anniversary of their children's death, on which members of the 2 tribes could marry. Thus, the Imilchil Marriage Festival was born!
